Connected health

Medical data transfer from citizens or patients using wearables or from healthcare applications in patient’s homes will be a key element of the medical pathway of the future. Safe and secure data transfer are key elements to ensure appropriate healthcare management. Also legal boundaries need to be set to ensure only appropriate use of digital biomonitoring based on the will of the patient. Many stakeholders are involved in this very dynamically developing field. It is the aim of the session to address specific perspectives in this process.

This session explores the rapidly evolving landscape of managing care and non-communicable diseases, with digital technologies enabling precision health and precision medicine. Precision health extends beyond disease remediation to include personalised risk reduction and lifestyle improvement, integrating clinical and behavioural care approaches. Artificial Intelligence advancements facilitate more personalised, mechanised care. We critically assess the feasibility, legal parameters, and privacy concerns linked to GDPR interpretation in such deployments, questioning whether this “radical” approach can be widely applied.
